Clay Buchholz Breaks Down His Performance in Red Sox’ 3-0 Loss to Rangers

Clay Buchholz Breaks Down His Performance in Red Sox' 3-0 Loss to Rangers Clay Buchholz
suffered his second loss of the season on Thursday, but the young righty felt good about his overall performance.

Buchholz struck out 10 batters and allowed six hits in 6 2/3 innings, but things turned sour in the Rangers’ three-run seventh inning.

“Up to the seventh inning, I felt really good about [the start],” Buchholz said on W.B. Mason Extra Innings Live after the game. “[My pitches] were down. And I kept telling myself all day, if I miss, miss down.”

Despite the loss, Buchholz was able to take away many positives from the outing.

“Things are clicking a little bit more,” Buchholz said. “I had all four pitches working tonight and I haven’t had that all season.”

Buchholz understands he’ll continue to improve with every start.

“It felt good,” Buchholz said. “It felt like a movement in the right direction.”
