Da'Sean Butler's Torn ACL Brings Added Pain to West Virginia's Final Four Loss to Duke He’s seen it happen to other players, but Da’Sean Butler never thought it would happen to him, especially on college basketball’s biggest stage.

Butler suffered a torn ACL in West Virginia’s Final Four loss to Duke on Saturday night. The senior all-Big East selection drove to the basket and got off an awkward shot with about nine minutes left in Duke’s 78-57 win before crashing to the floor in agony.

“I’d seen it happen to other guys … it happens all the time,” Butler told the media. “I was watching when it happened to Robbie [Hummel] at Purdue. The first thing I thought was what it might have been.

“It was more me just being scared,” Butler added. “I’ve never hurt myself before, so I was scared more than anything. I still have to go to the doctor. They said I need to get it checked out and I should be alright.”
