Jerry Remy Breaks Down Jacoby Ellsbury, Darnell McDonald

Jerry Remy Breaks Down Jacoby Ellsbury, Darnell McDonald Jerry Remy
knows Red Sox baseball, and he joined Tom Caron and Peter Gammons on Red Sox Gameday Live on Thursday to break down Boston’s hometown team.

Jacoby Ellsbury has four fractured ribs, and that will have a tremendous impact on the Red Sox lineup in the immediate future.

“This is a very different team without Jacoby Ellsbury,” Gammons said. “I think people took Ellsbury a little bit for granted.”

Darnell McDonald has filled in admirably thus far for the Sox with two home runs in two games, and Remy thinks his arrival has been a dream come true for the team.

“It’s a feel-good story,” Remy said. “He’s doing a little bit of everything.”

J.D. Drew has struggled in the early part of the season, but Remy feels he could resolve his problems by hitting the ball to the opposite field at Fenway Park more often.

“I would like to be able to see him use [the Green Monster] a little bit,” Remy said. “I think [he] could really get back in the groove [going the opposite way].”
