A young Grasshopper shopping for toiler paper proved hes the toughest fish at a Wal-Mart in Greensboro, N.C.
According to The News and Record, Curt Petersen, a minor league pitcher with the Marlins organization, thwarted a robbery attempt while shopping for toilet paper at the retail store on Thursday.
"It was interesting," Petersen told The News and Record. "I just went to the Wal-Mart for toilet paper, and then all this happens."
Petersen, a 20-year-old pitcher with the Greensboro Grasshoppers, saw Andrew F. Conrad Jr. attempt to steal April Dixon's purse in the store's parking lot. The 6-foot-3, 180- pound minor leaguer grabbed Conrad before he could flee the scene.
"This guy came up behind her and grabbed her purse and her keys," Petersen said. "She was yelling, 'Help! Help! Help!' I thought maybe it was just a joke. … I thought maybe they were messing around. But then she got knocked down, and I knew it wasn't a joke."
Petersen learned it was no joke shortly after detaining Conrad.
"I was like, 'What are you doing?' And he said, 'I'm taking her car.' And I was like, 'No, you're not,'" Petersen said. "I had a hold of him, and he threw the keys back to the lady and said, 'All right, all right, just let me go.' And I said, 'I don't think so.'"
Police charged Conrad, 53, with assault and common law robbery. Conrad is being held under a combined $29,100 bond on multiple charges.
