Mike Cameron to Start Running at End of Week Mike Cameron
is getting closer to returning from a duo of maladies that have knocked him out of game action since April 18.

First, Cameron passed a kidney stone before learning he had also suffered an abdominal tear. According to The Providence Journal, the center fielder will begin running this weekend at Baltimore.

Cameron has already begun swinging, which has not bothered him. Running, however, is still a challenge because lifting his knees puts more stress on the injury.

Fellow outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury continues to make improvements every day — albeit termed "minimal" — in his recovery from four fractured ribs.

In other injury news, Daisuke Matsuzaka will make his season debut on Saturday after battling a sore back and neck suffered in spring training.

Right-hander Boof Bonser began a rehab assignment from a strained groin in Triple-A, but he experienced a setback with stiffness in his shoulder. He has been cleared to resume action.

Jed Lowrie's bout with mononucleosis is ending and will begin regaining the 10 pounds he lost.

Junichi Tazawa will miss the entirety of the 2010 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
