Patrick Chung 'Always on a Mission' in Patriots Secondary FOXBORO, Mass. — The adjustment to the NFL was easier for Patrick Chung after coming from such a complex defensive system at Oregon. Chung, who is entering his second season as a safety for the Patriots, said Thursday that the teams' dynamic systems had a lot of similarities, and that helped him keep a cooler head in his rookie year.

"It's almost the same, just different terminology," Chung said. "There's a lot more things you have to know, of course. You have to know what everybody is doing. We had a very complicated defense at Oregon. It's the same here."

Chung played in all 16 regular-season games last season, recording 26 total tackles (19 solo), two sacks and one interception. He shared a backup role as a safety but also saw plenty of action in the slot closer to the line, and he was a solid contributor on special teams with 13 tackles.

Aside from one offseason trip back to the West Coast, Chung has remained in Foxboro, training for the 2010 season.

"Never settle," Chung said. "I'm always going to find something else to do, something else to get better at. I've come a long way with the veterans helping me, so that helps. I'm always on a mission."
