Several of the Red Sox’ young arms have been strong out of the gate, while a handful of position players have been slow to get going. Here is a look at how the organization’s best young talent is faring after a full week of play.
1. Casey Kelly, RHP
The Sox have indicated they are going to handle their prize righty with kid gloves, and it was apparent in his Double-A debut on Monday night for Portland. The 20-year-old Kelly allowed an unearned run on three hits in two innings of work in the Sea Dogs’ 8-2 win over New Britain. He threw 45 pitches and said he expects to be around 50 pitches for the next four starts or so.

2. Josh Reddick, OF
Reddick figured to cool off a bit after a scorching spring in which he led the Red Sox in total bases. He certainly has gone a bit cold, going 4-for-29 (.138) with just one walk for Triple-A Pawtucket. Batting plenty from the leadoff spot, he has an on-base percentage of just .167.

3. Ryan Kalish, OF
Since hitting a home run, stealing a base and scoring three times in the opener for Portland, Kalish has hit just .190 (4-for-21). All four hits have been singles.

4. Jose Iglesias, SS
The organization has been eager to see how Iglesias complements his stellar defensive play with something at the plate. Early returns are very good. Iglesias is batting .333 (8-for-24) with three doubles and a stolen base in seven games. He has committed one error.

5. Anthony Rizzo, 1B
The 20-year-old Rizzo has been hit or miss thus far, but continues to display the power that has team executives drooling. He slugged two solo shots and had a pair of singles against Potomac on Sunday. However, Rizzo is just 2-for-25 in the rest of his games.

6. Lars Anderson, 1B
During his current four-game hitting streak, Anderson is batting .313 (5-for-16) with a homer and a double. Entering Friday, he leads Portland in at-bats (30), total bases (13) and strikeouts (9). Anderson is also tied for the team lead in home runs (several players with one) and hits (8).

7. Luis Exposito, C
The organization’s top catching prospect has committed a pair of errors and has cooled off some since a smashing debut. He is batting .250 (6-for-24) with a homer and six RBIs.

8. Stolmy Pimentel, RHP
His debut was washed away by a major storm after just one inning of work, but Pimentel allowed just two hits and struck out five in five scoreless innings against Lynchburg on Tuesday. The 20-year-old picked up the win to improve to 19-9 at multiple levels of the organization.

9. Che-Hsuan Lin, OF
Another Sea Dog who had a big opener and has slowed down a bit since. Lin is batting .250 (7-for-28) and is tied with shortstop Yamaico Navarro for the team lead with three stolen bases.

10. Felix Doubront, LHP
The rising southpaw followed up a solid five-inning effort in his opener with four scoreless innings Tuesday at New Britain. He struck out six and walked two.
