He was rumored to be on the short list to become the future head coach at Boston College, but for now, that doesn't appear to be the case.
According to ESPN.com, Harvard head basketball coach Tommy Amaker has not been contacted by BC, and an extension is in the works that will keep him in Cambridge for many years to come.
"There have been some flattering reports of opportunities at other fine institutions but my heart is at Harvard," Amaker told the Web site, according to the school.
Amaker, a Duke graduate, coached at Seton Hall and Michigan before taking the reins at Harvard in 2007. In 2009-10, he led the Crimson to 21 wins — their highest win total in school history — as they earned their first postseason berth since 1946.
While at Seton Hall, Amaker led the team to the Sweet Sixteen in 2000 before jumping ship for Michigan in 2002. He failed to take the Wolverines to the NCAA Tournament in six seasons and was fired in March 2007.
