The Red Sox have traded relief pitcher Andrew Dobies to the Chicago White Sox for a player to be named later or cash, WEEI.com reports.

Dobies was a third-round pick in 2004 and has yet to reach the Triple-A level. The left-hander had five innings under his belt in 2010 for Double-A Portland, striking out eight and walking one while giving up just one run.

The 27-year-old compiled a career 24-25 record and 4.08 ERA while striking out 7.1 batters per nine innings with the Boston organization. Dobies originally apprenticed as a starter before moving to the bullpen in 2007. He missed all of 2008 due to injuries.
