Ron Artest and His Yellow Mini-Fro Ready for NBA Playoff Schedule to Begin As shocking as it may be, Ron Artest has done something to draw attention to himself in the final week of the season. This time, he’s even let a friend join in.

With Kobe Bryant resting to end the regular season and Andrew Bynum recovering from an injury, Artest has been called upon in the past week to step it up a bit. His response was, apparently, “Cool, let me just dye my hair yellow first.”

D.J. Mbenga appears to just be along for the ride.

It’s the second time this season that Artest has made headlines for an oddball hairstyle, but with the playoffs set to begin this weekend, it might be safe to assume that Phil Jackson will ask for at least some of Artest’s attention.

The complete NBA playoff schedule can be found here, and among the intriguing matchups are the Lakers-Thunder, Mavericks-Spurs and Celtics-Heat pairings in the first round.

Quote of the day

“I feel good, and I feel good about my team. … I’m excited, it’s a different atmosphere playoff time — different feeling, different vibe, everything.”
–Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo, on the excitement of the end to the regular season

Comment of the day

Ervin Santana complained to ESPN.com that the Yankees and Red Sox get more favorable calls from umpires. Needless to say, it’s not going over well with Red Sox fans.

“*sniff sniff* im sorry ervin. we will widen the K zone just for you buddy. I know it’s hard to have to throw strikes to potent offenses and you get upset and need a bottle when you’re not getting your way, but *sniff sniff* they’re not one sided umps, just look at *sniff sniff* the 2009 ALDS.”
