Sabres Stay Alive With 4-1 Win Over Bruins in Game 5 The Sabres stay alive for another day.

Buffalo came out of the gates blazing and proved to be too much for the Bruins, posting a 4-1 victory at HSBC Arena on Friday night to force Game 6 on Monday in Boston.

For the fifth straight game, the Sabres struck first — this time on Adam Mair‘s first postseason goal, assisted by BC product Nathan Gerbe and Cody McCormick. But they added to it with just over a minute remaining in the first period, courtesy of Jason Pominville.

Mike Grier made it 3-0 Buffalo 9:22 into the second, and it was too little too late when Boston finally put itself on the scoreboard, as Johnny Boychuk scored on a power play with 2:30 left in the game.

Tyler Ennis‘ empty-netter with 1:43 left sealed the deal for Buffalo.

Tuukka Rask made 29 saves on 32 shots for the B’s, while Ryan Miller finally shined for Buffalo, stopping 34 of 35 shots.
