Where Will the Rays Finish in American League East? The 6-3 Rays are looking good to start 2010 and could be a real threat to the Red Sox' postseason hopes.

Tampa Bay is just two years removed from representing the American League in the World Series, and there's reason to think this is the Rays' strongest team yet.

The three behemoths in the AL East know all too well that there's only two playoff spots up for grabs, and only one is confined to just the division. For the wild card, they have to worry about the rest of the AL as well.

Boston and New York would do well to pay attention to the surging Tampa Bay Rays. Can the Rays make the playoffs?

If you think Tampa Bay is destined to finish first, text "SOX1" to 542542. If you think they'll finish second (Wild Card or no), text "SOX2" to 542542. If you think there's nothing but pain and heartbreak in the Rays' future and they'll finish third or lower, text "SOX3" to 542542.

With voting closed the fans have spoken, and the Rays are projected to finish third or lower with 54 percent of the vote. Twenty-six percent of respondents see the Rays finishing in second place, and 20 percent of voters predict a first-place finish.

Throughout the 2010 Red Sox season, NESN and kgb are teaming up to offer Red Sox fans poll questions during NESN's pregame shows. Viewers of Olympia Sports presents The Boston Globe Red Sox Gameday Live are encouraged to text in their answer during the "NESN.com Question of the Day Powered by kgb" segment.
