NEW YORK — The New York Yankees have decided to be cautious with Chan Ho Park, placing the reliever on the 15-day disabled list Friday because of a mild hamstring injury.

Park's right leg started to bother him while he was warming up during New York's 6-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday. He was examined by team physician Christopher Ahmad on Friday and an MRI revealed a low-level strain.

"There's a possibility that he would've pitched for us next week, but you run your bullpen short and the other thing that you do is you take the chance of hurting it even worse," manager Joe Girardi said.

Park also injured his right hamstring last year with the Philadelphia Phillies, but he said it was in a different spot and much worse. The 36-year-old right-hander was confident he would be OK in a couple days.

"I understand I'm not young anymore," Park said, "so I've got to be careful."

Park is 1-1 with a 4.76 ERA in three games this season after signing a $1.2 million, one-year contract with New York as a free agent.

The Yankees recalled Boone Logan from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to replace Park in the bullpen. The left-hander was expected to join the team Friday night.

Logan was acquired in a five-player trade with Atlanta in the offseason that also brought Javier Vazquez to New York. The reliever was one of the Yankees' last cuts before opening day.

"He pitched extremely well for us. He just happened to be in a situation where we have a pretty deep bullpen," Girardi said before New York opened a weekend series against the Texas Rangers. "I think he would've been on a lot of other clubs the way he pitched in spring training so this is an opportunity for him."
