Taylor or Tyler; who's it going to be? According to two major organizations, it's Tyler — as in Tyler Seguin.
The Plymouth Whalers center, who was previously voted the top North American skater for the 2010 Entry Draft by NHL Central Scouting, was named junior hockey's top draft prospect by the Canadian Hockey League over the weekend.
That's two votes for Seguin and zero for Windsor Spitfires center Taylor Hall, who many NHL experts agree is the better player. In fact, while Seguin was celebrating his newest title, Hall was wrapping up his second Memorial Cup MVP award after his squad took down the Wheat Kings 9-1 in the tournament finals on Sunday.
While Hall's postseason has been highly publicized (and rightyfully so), Seguin's regular season was nothing short of remarkable. He finished his second year of junior hockey with 106 points — tied with Hall for the league lead. His 48 goals ranked third in the OHL, while his 58 assists were seventh. The winger ended the campaign on fire as he notched five goals and 10 points in his remaining 11 games before the Whalers were knocked out of the playoffs in the second round.
