As if it wasn’t hard enough watching the legendary Chris Chelios patrol the blue line for the Chicago Wolves of the AHL, the 48-year-old made things worse on Tuesday night.

Chelios coughed up a loose puck in his zone and was easily beat by Jamie Benn of the Texas Stars, whose game-winning goal eliminated the Wolves from the West Division Finals in the Calder Cup playoffs. It also likely eliminated Chelios from the pro hockey ranks.

“I’m 99 percent sure that I think that will end it as a career,” Chelios told Chicago Breaking News after the 6-5 loss. “I don’t know if it’s the right time to say it, but it has been a great opportunity for me for (27) years. Physically it has caught up. I always said I’d go out when there was nothing left in the tank and I think I’m there.”

Check out the Chelio’s gaffe (beginning at 3:30) below.
