Justin Morneau Thrilled by Additions to Twins' Squad The Red Sox are set to face the AL Central-leading Minnesota Twins, who boast thumper Justin Morneau as an early MVP candidate.

NESN’s Heidi Watney chatted with the first baseman on Wednesday’s edition of Red Sox GameDay Live, where Morneau deferred all credit to his teammates.

“The guys behind me are accomplished hitters … they all have a chance to hit the ball out of the park,” Morneau told Watney of how he’s been able to be so successful getting on base and scoring runs. “They’ve got a chance to drive me in even if it’s from first base.”

The Canadian also spoke about the Twins’ moves this offseason that have paid dividends so far, such as importing J.J. Hardy, Orlando Hudson and Jim Thome.

“Bringing in those [veterans], it’s brought a different feel to this team,” Morneau said. “I think it’s taken the pressure off me, having these guys around.”

Morneau also had glowing reviews for Joe Mauer. Check it out below.
