Mike Lowell Penciled in at Third Base For Fourth Time This Season

A sore left knee will keep Dustin Pedroia out of the starting lineup for the first time all season when the Red Sox meet the Detroit Tigers in the rubber game of a three-game set Sunday afternoon.

Bill Hall will take Pedroia's place at second base, playing the position for just the 15th time since 2005. Jeremy Hermida will bat in Pedroia's customary No. 2 spot. Hermida has hit in the two-hole 118 times in his major league career, batting .243 with 17 homers.

The shuffling continues throughout the Boston lineup as Mike Lowell will play third base for just the fourth time this year. Adrian Beltre gets a day off.

Among Red Sox starters, Kevin Youkilis has enjoyed the most success against Detroit righty Armando Galarraga. Youkilis is 3-for-5 with two homers and a walk when facing Galarraga.
