Things Don't Go Red Sox' Way As Team Falls to Tigers “A breaking ball to [Ramon] Santiago,” lamented Terry Francona. “That really accounted for the majority of the damage.”

Francona, of course, was talking about the loss to the Detroit Tigers on Sunday afternoon. While starting pitcher John Lackey battled — Francona put it as “an amazing ability to compete” — through and got through seven innings, the Red Sox still come away with a loss.

“It’s just one of those games where things didn’t go our way,” said Bill Hall, filling in at second base for Dustin Pedroia.
