Tiger Woods, Swing Coach Hank Haney Officially Break it Off Tiger Woods
may need to break out that sappy mix tape of '80s love ballads after his longtime swing coach resigned Monday night.

Hank Haney, Woods' swing coach since 2004, told the Golf Channel (where were you on this split, TMZ?) that he is breaking up with the world's No. 1 player.

"I will always look back upon our past half-dozen years together as my best days in professional golf," he said. "It would be a dream of any coach to have a student like Tiger Woods and for me it has come true. Just so there is no confusion I would like to make it clear that this is my decision. I know Tiger Woods will be successful in the future no matter who helps him."

There is no word yet on how many other swing coaches Woods has been working with while with Haney.

Quote of the day

"That hurt quite a bit because it moved up two runners and then the next guy gets a base hit and they both scored."
–Yankees pitcher Sergio Mitre, calling out Alex Rodriguez's two-out throwing error in New York's 5-4 loss to the Tigers on Monday

Comment of the day

To call the B's "heartless" and "losers" is one thing, but to refer to them as "2004 Yankees" is a disgusting act.

"Sticka fork in the Bruins. They're done. Flyers in 7. I'm not going to waste my time watching them anymore. There are much more enjoyable and important things to do in life than watch a heartless bunch of no-talent losers pull a 2004 Yankees. I'm ashamed to say I let them suck me into thinking they might actually do something in the playoffs. NOT AGAIN! GO FLYERS!!!!! Put this bunch of losers out of its misery."
