Adam Oates to Join Devils Coaching Staff As Assistant

NEWARK, N.J.– Former NHL All-Star
Adam Oates is filling the final assistant spot on John MacLean's
coaching staff with the New Jersey Devils.

Oates was hired on Tuesday and is
joining fellow assistant Larry Robinson and goaltending coach Chris
Terreri
under MacLean, who was named head coach by the Devils on June
17. The 47-year-old Oates was an assistant coach with the Tampa Bay
Lightning last season.

The former center had 341 goals and
1,079 assists in 1,337 NHL games over 19 seasons with Detroit, St.
Louis, Boston, Washington, Philadelphia, Anaheim, and Edmonton.

Oates, a five-time All-Star, retired
as a player in 2004.
