OAKLAND, Calif. — Los Angeles
Angels first baseman Kendry Morales will miss the rest of the season
after undergoing surgery on his broken left leg.

Morales had the operation Thursday and
the Angels announced he would not play again this season. Morales broke
his leg while leaping onto home plate during a celebration following
his game-ending grand slam against Seattle on May 29.

Manager Mike Scioscia says Morales’
long-term prognosis for recovery looks good.

Morales was leading the team with 11
homers, 39 RBIs and a .290 average at the time of the injury.
