One such Celtic is Sam Jones, who perhaps knows more about Game 7 success than anyone in the history of the game.
Jones, who was 9-0 with 27.1 points per game in Game 7s, is hoping to pass his success off to the some of the current Celtics players prior to Game 7 against the Lakers.
According to CelticsLife.com, Jones provided head coach Doc Rivers with a box of "Sam Jones" and "Respect is Earned" T-shirts in an effort to inspire the group. Jones hopes that the team will take notice of the Celtics’ 1969 Game 7 road victory over the Lakers.
Bill Russell, who has 11 championships to his credit, said that he always wore a black suit prior to Game 7s because he was going out there to be an undertaker and to bury the other team.
Russell also said that a key is to not worry about what the other team is going to do, but to make the other team worry about what you are going to do.
