Chris Rock, David Spade, Kevin James and Adam Sandler Soak in Lakers' Victory Over Celtics Goodbye, Prince of Persia. Hello, Grown Ups.

The incessant, beat-you-over-the-head promos for the NBA Finals will be focused on the new comedy starring Chris Rock, David Spade, Kevin James and Adam Sandler. Yes, David Spade is still alive, and yes, someone thought it would be a good idea to put him in a major motion picture.

The three funnymen (and Spade) are in some great company — last year, as the Lakers throttled the Magic, half the game was spent airing promos for Year One, a comedy starring Jack Black and Michael Cera. Year One turned out to be one of the worst movies ever made, so make sure you pencil in Grown Ups to your busy schedule.

Oh, and someone tell Sandler that he grew up in Manchester, N.H. Enough with the Yankees and Knicks stuff — someone get him a Monarchs jersey.

Quote of the day

“I had my suspicions back then of a lot of players because it was so rampant in the game of baseball,” he said. “But if you ask me if I have any solid evidence, did I ever inject Roger Clemens or put him in contact or did he ever use steroids. Never.”
–Jose Canseco, testifying that Clemens never used steroids

Comment of the day

Yes, by using the standard measure of greatness (tunnels named in one’s honor), Ted Williams is unquestionably a bigger sports legend than Bobby Orr. You can’t argue against that.

“Does [Orr] have a tunnel named after him? Is he more popular than Ted on a national scale? He played hockey for cryin out loud. Baseball is ten times the sport of hockey. You can bet Bobby Orr would have loved to have been Ted Williams growing up if the ice melted sooner!”
–Tom Hughes

Video of the day

Here’s a guarantee: If you watch and listen to this video in its entirety, you may not even think about it for the rest of the day. But when you watch Marco Scutaro field a grounder in the first inning, your brain will instantly kick in with a little “Scu-Scu-Scutaro!”
