Roush Fenway driver Colin Braun returns to piloting the No. 16 Con-way Freight Ford Fusion this weekend at Kentucky Speedway.
Braun last drove the car three weeks ago at Dover International Speedway where he recorded his first top-10 speed of the season.
He has two previous starts at Kentucky, both in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, with an average starting position of 5.0 and an average finish of 18.0. This will be Braun's first start in the Nationwide Series at Kentucky.
"I am so excited to be able to get back in the No. 16 Con-way Freight Ford this weekend at Kentucky. I've been looking forward to it since Dover actually," Braun said. "We had a really good race there and we're bringing back that same car this weekend with more high hopes."
Last weekend, Braun practiced in the No. 98 car for teammate Paul Menard at Nashville Superspeedway while Menard was in the Cup Series in Pocono.
"Even though I haven't been in the No. 16 these past few weeks, I've been able to continue learning … it was awesome to get to help Paul [Menard] out last weekend in Nashville," Braun said. "That team had a really great finish there and I feel like I got to help out with that which was cool."
Crew chief Ben Leslie has selected the RK-356 for this weekend, which Braun last raced at Dover International Speedway three weeks ago where he finished 10th, his highest of the season.
Leslie said he's excited to work with Braun in Kentucky.
"I am looking forward to having Colin in the car this weekend and getting the chance to work with him," Leslie said. "He is another one of our guys that is a great young talent with a lot of potential. Kentucky is a challenging place to master so I am excited about that as well. I know Colin is very anxious to get back in the car and I'm hopeful we can channel that excitement into a great finish for this team."
In 16 Nationwide Series starts, Roush Fenway has one win, four top-fives, seven top-10s, one pole award and 392 laps led at Kentucky Speedway. The lone win came from Carl Edwards in 2005.
Braun will join teammates Brian Ickler and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. to sign autographs in the display area outside the speedway gates from 2:30-3:30pm on June 12.
