David Ragan knows what it takes to succeed at Daytona International Speedway.
In his first-ever Daytona 500 in 2007, Ragan finished in fifth place, earning the young driver over $500,000.
Overall, Ragan has six Nationwide Series starts at Daytona, four of which resulted in top-10 finishes.
Heading into the Coke Zero 400 this weekend at Daytona, Ragan isn’t feeling the pressure of driving in the No. 6 UPS Ford Fusion for Roush Fenway Racing. In fact, he’s as calm as could be.
"I’m looking forward to heading down to Daytona over this holiday weekend," said Ragan, who has an average finishing position of 14.1 for his career at DIS. "Saturday night racing is always exciting for the fans and the drivers. Hopefully, we are in the right place at the right time at the end and can get a good finish in our UPS Ford."
The Coke Zero 400 is a restrictor-plate race, but that doesn’t faze Ragan. The 24-year-old had three top-five finishes out of four restrictor-plate races in 2008.
"David has been really strong at restrictor-plate racing," crew chief Donnie Wingo said. "He just knows what to do and does a great job taking care of his car. You always want a car that handles well at Daytona since they are running wide open in a pack, and a good qualifying position to hopefully put yourself ahead of any accidents on the track."
