Red Sox Nation will be holding its collective breath on Saturday as it awaits word on how badly Dustin Pedroia is injured.

The second baseman left Friday night's game after fouling a ball off his left foot in the third inning. He stayed in the game, drew a walk off Jonathan Sanchez, but was then removed from the game when he was unable to put weight on his foot.

X-rays were taken on the foot, but the team wouldn't say whether they came back negative. More tests will be taken on Saturday.

"They didn't see [a] break … but we're obviously going to get him examined a lot more [on Saturday]" manager Terry Francona said after the game, according to The Boston Globe. "He's having a tough time putting weight on everything. He's really sore. You can tell, when he comes out of a game. So we'll get him examined more. That's all we can do right now."

Pedroia, according to several reports, left the clubhouse in a walking boot and with the assistance of crutches. His outline for recovery was a simple, three-step process.

"Ice, elevate it and pray," he said of his overnight plans.

Pedroia was just 24 hours removed from a career night in Colorado, when he went 5-for-5 with three home runs, a double, five RBIs and four runs scored. He also drew a walk in the 13-11 Red Sox victory. In total, he's hitting .374 with 16 RBIs in June, hitting four homers, nine doubles and a triple to go with 13 walks (.449 OBP). He's even stepped up his baserunning game, swiping six bases without getting caught.

In short, pitchers have not been able to slow him down, so it's fitting that it was his own foul ball took him off the field. How long he'll be kept away will likely be determined on Saturday.
