Dustin Pedroia Placed on Disabled List With Non-Displaced Fracture in Foot Dustin Pedroia
will be the latest Red Sox star to hit the disabled list. The team announced Saturday afternoon that Pedroia suffered a non-displaced fracture of the navicular bone on his left foot.

The 2008 American League Most Valuable Player joins right-hander Josh Beckett and outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury on a list of notable Red Sox players on the DL. Mike Lowell and Jeremy Hermida are also on the list and others (J.D. Drew, Mike Cameron, Kevin Youkilis) have missed time of late with various ailments.

The latest injury, which occurred in the third inning of a 5-4 loss, comes amid a hot stretch for Pedroia, who entered Friday's game batting .500 (26-for-52) since June 10. He was coming off his first career three-home run game in a dramatic win over Colorado on Thursday.

Bill Hall is playing second base and batting seventh for the Sox on Saturday night. Angel Sanchez has been called up to fill Pedroia's roster spot.
