Dustin Pedroia the Latest Member of Growing Red Sox Disabled List As you get ready to count the number of hot dogs you eat, fireworks you set off, and cannonballs you land in the pool this Fourth of July weekend, here are some other numbers around the sports world that you may choose to celebrate.

9: Number of trips to the disabled list that members of the Red Sox Opening Day roster have made. That doesn’t include Boof Bonser, Jed Lowrie and Junichi Tazawa, who were all placed on the DL before the season started.

1: Avery Bradley’s rank among incoming college freshmen in ESPNU100’s 2009 list of top 100 college basketball recruits. Bradley was picked 19th overall by the Celtics in Thursday’s NBA draft.

43: Number of games that Eric Patterson has started at second base in his career. Patterson, who was acquired from the Oakland Athletics just hours after Dustin Pedroia was placed on the disabled list, could see significant time at second in Pedroia’s absence.

1,144: Amount of time, in days, between Mark Recchi’s NHL debut (Dec. 13, 1988) and the day Tyler Seguin was born (Jan. 31, 1992). Seguin was drafted second overall by the Bruins in Friday’s NHL draft, while Recchi recently signed a one-year extension with the B’s.

18: Number of holds for Daniel Bard in 2010, most in the American League.

2,976: Combined number of "ball bounces before serve" by John Isner and Nicolas Mahut in their three-day marathon match at Wimbledon. This number, however, is only based on available video. There could have been more.
