Gelson Fernandes, Switzerland Pull Off Major Upset in Topping Spain 1-0 Despite being out-shot 25-9, Switzerland managed to upset European champion Spain, 1-0, ending the club’s 12-game winning streak.

Gelson Fernandes’ goal in the second half led to Spain’s second loss in 50 games.

Spain largely dominated offensively, but couldn’t find the back of the net through a strong Switzerland defense.

Derdiyok powered through the center of Spain’s defense and drew a hard tackle from defender Gerard Pique in the second half. Fernandes came in and grabbed the loose ball and scored thanks to Derdiyok’s sacrifice.
