Game to game, you just never know who will be manning the Red Sox outfield.

With J.D. Drew battling a right hamstring injury, Mike Cameron still not 100 percent, and Jacoby Ellsbury and Jeremy Hermida on the disabled list for an extended period of time, manager Terry Francona has been forced to utilize the likes of Darnell McDonald, Daniel Nava, Josh Reddick and Bill Hall is excess over the past few games.

Drew strained his right hamstring left Friday’s game after running after Manny Ramirez line drive, and is listed as day-to-day.

"The right hammy's pretty sore," Francona said following a 10-6 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. "He said he thought he felt a pop. He has pretty good range of motion. He's sore."

Drew had been as consistent as anyone at staying in the lineup, but the injury has to worry Red Sox fans who know all too well about the outfielder’s struggle to stay healthy in the past.

Jeremy Hermida continues to work his way back from an injury he sustained colliding with third baseman Adrian Beltre on June 4 in Baltimore.

Daisuke Matsuzaka threw a 49-pitch simulated game at Fenway Park on Saturday, and is scheduled to come off the disabled list and start against the Colorado Rockies on Thursday.

Matsuzaka was placed on the DL with a right forearm strain just minutes before he was supposed to start against the Philadelphia Phillies.

The team has said that the injury does not appear to be a major concern.
