BOSTON — Kevin Youkilis will be out of the starting lineup for just the third time this year when the Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies open a three-game series Friday night at Fenway Park.

Youkilis left Thursday's game in Cleveland in the seventh inning with mild back spasms. Manager Terry Francona said he should be back in the lineup Saturday and may even be available to pinch hit Friday.

"I think he did a good job of getting himself out of there," Francona said. "I think that's something he wouldn't have done in the past. He would've tried to play through and it would've cost him four-to-five days."

Without Youkilis, the Sox will install designated hitter David Ortiz into the cleanup spot for the second time this year and move third baseman Adrian Beltre to the No. 5 hole for the seventh time.

Ortiz is a .361 (13-for-36) hitter against Phillies starter Jamie Moyer.

The ever-changing Boston outfield features Mike Cameron playing consecutive games for the first time this month and Darnell McDonald in the lineup for the first time in three days, playing right field and batting ninth.

Regular right fielder J.D. Drew is getting a night off.
