One could say that Saturday's "Pancrase: Passion Tour 5" was a lose-lose kind of night for MMA fighter Shigeyuki Uchiyama.

But the fighter would have trouble hearing it.

During a double leg take down by his opponent Masaya "J-Taro" Takita, the top of Uchiyama's ear was clipped off as he fell through the ropes at 2:57 of Round 2. To add insult to injury, Takita was awarded the win via TKO.

Uchiyama was taken to a nearby hospital immediately following the loss. It is not yet known if the ear can be reattached.
