More Impressive: Ubaldo Jimenez No-Hitter in 2010 or Roger Clemens’ 20 K’s in 1986?

As Roger Clemens‘ career began fading away a few seasons ago, a young Dominican pitcher named Ubaldo Jimenez was just beginning his.

By 2008, Clemens was out of baseball for good, and Jimenez, pitching in one of the league’s most hitter-friendly ballparks, was working his way to a 12-win season in his first full year as a starter.

But there are a lot more similarities between these two hurlers than just big strikeout numbers and impressive win totals, as both Jimenez in 2010 and Clemens in 1986 won 13 of their first 14 starts.

This isn’t the two aces’ only impressive feat, however. Earlier this season, Jimenez threw a no-hitter against the Braves in Atlanta. Clemens, who has never thrown a no-hitter, set a major league record as a 23-year-old in 1986 by striking out 20 batters in a contest against the Mariners at Fenway Park.
