Pat Tillman gave up his professional football career to join the Army Rangers following the Sept. 11 attacks on American soil.

The gridiron star’s death in the field of battle earned him the title of one of the nation’s true patriots. But there was something mysterious about his friendly-fire death, and his mother Dannie, as well as the rest of the Tillman family, fought for the truth, which was finally revealed. Amir Bar-Lev uncovers the tale in The Tillman Story, which will be released Aug. 20, 2010.

The stirring film is narrated by Josh Brolin and features interviews with Tillman’s fellow soldiers and family members.
