Red Sox Nation Torn on Whether to Boo or Cheer Manny Ramirez on Friday Half of Red Sox fans love him. Half of Red Sox fans will never forgive him for the way his career in Boston ended.

And Thursday’s kgb Poll illustrated it perfectly.

When asked whether they plan to boo or cheer Manny Ramirez when he returns to Fenway Park for the first time since being traded to the Dodgers in 2008, 44 percent of voters plan to cheer while the majority — 56 percent — plan to boo.

Manny had just as many highlights as he had lowlights during his career in Beantown, but one thing is for sure: His return promises to be entertaining, and he did plenty to restore the Boston Red Sox to prominence.

“There’s enough people [in Boston] who were so excited after 100 years of not winning the World Series, and he got them to that point,” Dennis Eckersley said on Thursday’s edition of Red Sox Extra Innings.

Make sure to tune in at 5:30 p.m. on Friday to hear Tom Caron, Peter Gammons and Eck sound off in preparation for Manny’s return.
