Report: Bruins Assistant Craig Ramsay to be Named Thrashers Head Coach

Bruins assistant coach Craig Ramsay is heading south.

According to ESPN.com, the B's assistant coach of the last three seasons will be named the Atlanta Thrashers' head coach either Thursday or Friday.

Ramsay coached the Buffalo Sabres for 21 games in 1986-87 and the Philadelphia Flyers for 28 games in 2000-01. He won the Stanley Cup in 2004 as an assistant coach with the Tampa Bay Lightning and remained as the assistant coach until he was fired on May 24, 2007. Just three months later, on August 1, 2007, he was named the assistant coach for the Boston Bruins.

As a player, Ramsay had 672 points in 1,070 career games over 14 seasons with the Sabres.
