With Kendrick Perkins out indefinitely with a knee injury, the Celtics are making some contingency plans.
That much, at least, can be gained from the Yahoo report that says the C's will be targeting center Brad Miller once free agency begins on July 1.
The report states that Miller and Ray Allen are the two focal points of the Celtics' offseason plans.
Miller appeared in all 82 games for the Bulls last season, starting 37 times. The 34-year-old averaged 8.8 points and 4.9 rebounds in 23.8 minutes per game last year, slightly off his career numbers of 11.7 points and 7.5 rebounds.
Ideally, Miller would fill the role left vacant by Rasheed Wallace, who retired this week. Similar to Wallace, Miller has gotten under the skin of Celtics fans in the past, particularly during the seven-game series between the Bulls and Celtics in the spring of 2009. Miller was fouled hard by Rajon Rondo in Game 5, but no flagrant foul was called. Miller was called for a flagrant foul in December of the same year, thanks in large part to some acting by Glen Davis.
As was the case with Wallace, none of that should be any sort of impediment to signing Miller, who made $12.25 million last year.
