Uruguay Shuts Down World Cup Host South Africa 3-0 South Africa was unable to use its home pitch as an advantage, and the World Cup hosts were blanked by Uruguay 3-0 in front of a capacity crowd in Johannesburg.

It was a poor showing by the South Africans, as they received two yellow cards and one red card in the loss.

South Africa’s (0-1-1) hopes of advancing in the World Cup come down to their next match against heavily favored France.

Forlan scored on a deflected 25-yard shot in the first half, and then put his squad up 2-0 in the 80th minute when he converted on a penalty kick.

Forlan had two tallies, his first coming in the 24th minute and his second coming on a penalty kick in the 80th.

Alvaro Pereira added an insurance goal for Uruguay in the 90th.

South Africa goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune was ejected in the 76th minute for clipping the leg of Uruguay forward Luis Suarez.

South Africa midfielder Kagisho Dikgacoi will be suspended for the match against France for receiving a yellow card in his second straight game.
