Although he did get into the All-Star game on Tuesday in Anaheim, Adrian Beltre is not in the Red Sox’ starting lineup for Thursday’s series opener against the Texas Rangers.

Beltre hurt his left hamstring running to first base Sunday in Toronto. He initially hoped it was just a cramp and was able to play in Anaheim, striking out in his only at-bat.

With Beltre sidelined vs. Tommy Hunter on Thursday, Bill Hall will get his first start at third base for the Sox, batting eighth. Hall took over for Beltre at third base Sunday.

Eric Patterson is starting at second base for the second time since joining Boston. He will bat second.

Patterson and David Ortiz are a combined 3-for-7 with a home run apiece against Hunter. Kevin Youkilis is 2-for-5 with three runs scored.
