Strength training is invaluable to any professional athlete, and nobody knows better than the team’s conditioning staff.

A group of lucky gym-goers received the benefit of professional advice from Red Sox conditioning staff on Thursday at the Boston Sports Clubs on Boylston Street.

Red Sox strength and conditioning coach David Page and assistant athletic trainer Masai Takahashi led a 50-minute full-circuit strength and conditioning class free of charge.

The class emphasized strength training, which athletes use to protect against injury, improve flexibility and gain lean muscle mass.

Page is in his fifth season with the Red Sox and won the 2007 Nolan Ryan Award for Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year in professional baseball.
