In a move that was expected to come this week, the Red Sox announced that Clay Buchholz has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 27.

His roster spot will be filled by Felix Doubront, who will start Tuesday's game against the Rays.

Buchholz suffered a hamstring strain against the Giants while running the bases, and reports on Monday afternoon indicated that the pitcher would be placed on the disabled list.

In 15 starts this season, Buchholz is 10-4 with a 2.45 ERA — good enough to earn him his first All-Star bid. Though he won't be playing in next Tuesday's game, but he will attend.

Doubront made his major league career on June 18, giving up three earned runs in five innings and picking up a win. In six starts with Triple-A Pawtucket, he is 3-2 with a 2.36 ERA.
