Fresh off his first career two-homer game, Eric Patterson will get his first start in center field for the Red Sox when they take on the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday.

Patterson, who is hitting .333 (5-for-15) with three extra-base hits since joining the Sox late last month, will be part of another new outfield rotation. He is joined by Daniel Nava in left and J.D. Drew in right.

Nava is making just his third start of the month.

Kevin Cash, just 1-for-10 thus far since being acquired from Houston last week in the wake of injuries to two Boston catchers, will make his fourth start behind the plate for the Sox.

Drew has two doubles in four at-bats against Rays righty Jeff Niemann. The rest of the Boston lineup is a collective 6-for-36 (.167) with no extra-base hits vs. Niemann.
