Former Patriots wide receiver Troy Brown was recognized for a fine collegiate football career when he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame on Saturday.
Brown was a standout at Marshall University in West Virginia when the school was still a Division I-AA squad. The receiver put up astounding numbers with the Thundering Herd, catching 139 passes for 2,746 yards and 24 touchdowns.
"Only playing two years of college football, I figured there was no chance of getting into the College Football Hall of Fame," Brown told West Virginina Metro News. "I know there were a lot of people that pushed for me to get in."
Before Brown was winning Super Bowls with the Patriots, he was part of a Marshall team that won the 1992 Division I-AA National Championship.
The induction ceremony took place Saturday in South Bend, Ind. where greats of the game like Tim Brown and Chris Spielman joined Troy Brown as inductees.
