Josh Beckett Will Throw Side Session Tuesday, But ‘Ready to Go Friday’

Josh Beckett Will Throw Side Session Tuesday, But 'Ready to Go Friday' The Red Sox’ starting rotation is finally coming back together.

With Clay Buchholz returning to the hill Wednesday in Oakland, manager Terry Francona announced that Josh Beckett would likely return to his spot in the rotation Friday night in Seattle.

Beckett said Sunday that after two rehab starts at Triple-A Pawtucket, he’s ready to get back on the mound at the major league level.

“I think as far as the build-up and stuff, I think I’m where I need to be,” he said. “As far as I’m concerned, yeah, I think I’m ready to start Friday.”

Before Beckett is handed the ball Friday, he will throw a side session on Tuesday to work out any kinks before what would be his first start since May 18.

“It’s just making the adjustments from pitch-to-pitch instead of taking two, three pitches to make the adjustment,” Beckett said in regards to what he plans to work on in Tuesday’s session.
