Maybe LeBron James is starting to realize the magnitude of what he's going to do with his decision.
According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Bath Township police department will be dispatching extra police officers to patrol around and maintain order around the free-agent's home.
"Whether we get loads of happy fans or unhappy fans showing up outside his home, we will be prepared to keep the traffic moving," Police Chief Michael McNeeley told the Plain Dealer. "There has been a lot of traffic in the area lately, but there have been no problems."
James has been hiring officers to watch his home while they are off-duty, and he has reportedly asked for some extra officers Thursday.
"He has hired our officers to work off-duty at his property," McNeeley said. "There has always been an officer there, inside the gate. He has increased the number of officers working there in the past week."
The township's police department is only 20 officers strong, so they have a plan to call on surrounding departments for assistance in case things get heated.
The bigger concern on McNeeley's mind, though, has been the amount of people calling and asking for inside information.
"People think that because our officers are at his house all the time that we have the inside scoop," he said.
"That's just not the case. He is very tight-lipped about his plans."
