Much of the speculation surrounding LeBron James' exit from Cleveland has been based on the notion that he could play with a better supporting cast elsewhere. If the Cavs can put together a package for Bosh, this may not be the case.
Both Bosh and the Raptors would find themselves winners in this scenario, with Toronto receiving some compensation for their parting superstar, and Bosh, by getting a new contract without technically becoming a free agent, would be able to receive the maximum amount of money possible.
While the Raptors may have had conversations with Houston and Dallas that would yield more in return for native Texan Bosh, the free agent could also sign elsewhere at any moment, hanging Toronto out to dry.
Bosh previously expressed that he was opposed to moving to Cleveland, and Nets' owner Mikhail Prokhorov has asserted that both Bosh and Dwyane Wade would likely end up in Miami.
Still, as has constantly been the case since the free-agency speculation began, the story has again changed.
One does wonder though what Cleveland could offer Toronto in a sign-and-trade … J.J. Hickson? Anderson Varejiao? First-round picks?
No deal is currently in place, but you can bet that the Cavaliers' front office will be doing everything it can to bring Bosh to Quicken Loans Arena, as such may be enough to convince King James to stay home.
But don't be surprised if the story changes again in a matter of minutes …
