The Red Sox will get some much-needed bullpen help prior to Saturday's game with the Rangers after they activated reliever Manny Delcarmen from the 15-day disabled list.

Delcarmen was placed on the DL on July 1 with a strained right forearm. He made one rehab appearance with Double-A Portland before being recalled.

Additionally, catcher Dusty Brown was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket. To make room for the two additions, Friday night's starter Felix Doubront was was optioned to Pawtucket and reliever Fernando Cabrera was designated for assignment.

While Delcarmen has struggled some at times this year, his addition will be welcomed, especially coming off of two games in which the Red Sox bullpen was used for a combined 7 1/3 innings in two losses to open their series with the Rangers.
