Report: Celtics Trying to Trade Rasheed Wallace’s Contract, Acquire J.J. Redick

Rasheed Wallace may be retiring, but that's not enough for the Celtics to have their mid-level exception available. That can change, however, if the C's trade away his contract — something that Danny Ainge just might be doing.

Yahoo reported minutes after NBA free agency began that Ainge is using Wallace's contract in trade talks. If a team accepted the deal, the money would come off that team's books as soon as Wallace filed his retirement papers.

The report goes on to say that if the Celtics were able to move Wallace, their primary target could be restricted free agent J.J. Redick.
