The Patriots have now inked deals with all 12 of their draft picks.
Devin McCourty, the last of New England’s draft selections to agree to a contract, reportedly signed a five-year deal with the team, according to ESPN.com. The deal has a maximum value of $13.2 million, according to a league source, with guarantees and bonuses totaling $7.825 million.
The Rutgers standout cornerback was selected 27th overall and is the second first-round draft choice to sign a contract, behind the Cowboys’ Dez Bryant.
On the field, he will likely contribute both to New England’s defense and special teams.
"He's fast, he's tough. He's a good four-down football player — first, second, third and fourth down," Patriots coach Bill Belichick told ESPN.com on draft day. "In the kicking game, he's certainly one of the top guys in the draft in that area."
McCourty may potentially compete for a starting spot at left cornerback with 2009 second-round draft pick Darius Butler, and is expected to be on the field when Patriots’ training camp begins on Thursday.
