FOXBORO, Mass. — Tom Brady and Peyton Manning aren’t the only two big-name quarterbacks who are looking for 10-figure extensions.

Saints quarterback Drew Brees, who was the MVP of Super Bowl XLIV, is closely monitoring the situations in New England and Indianapolis. Brady and Manning are each entering the final season of their respective contracts, but Brees has two years to go on a $60 million, six-year deal he signed in 2006. Still, the Saints have indicated they'd like to reward Brees with a more lucrative contract that makes him one of the highest-paid players at his position.

Brees acknowledged Tuesday he is intrigued by the events surrounding Brady's deal.

"Sure, any guy who plays your position and is in a position where they’re negotiating a new contract, that affects you," Brees said. "In a way, I’m paying attention, and in a way, I’m not because it’s all about playing football right now. It’s not the offseason anymore. I know there were talks of [signing an extension with New Orleans]. But for now, it’s just about winning football games, and that stuff will take care of itself."
